Browser Control Extension

Enable AI assistants to interact with web pages through secure browser automation.

Overview

The Cosmonauth Browser Control extension bridges the gap between AI assistants and web browsers, allowing your AI assistants to:

  • Read webpage content and HTML structure
  • Click on elements and buttons
  • Fill out forms and input fields
  • Navigate websites on your behalf

Prerequisites

  • You have a cosmonauth account
  • Chrome or Chromium-based browser
  • An AI assistant connected to Cosmonauth (ChatGPT or Claude)

Installation

  1. Download the Cosmonauth Browser Control extension from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Click “Add to Chrome” and confirm the installation
  3. Pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access
  4. Click the extension icon to open the connection interface

Setup & Connection

1. Connect to Cosmonauth

  1. Click the Cosmonauth extension icon in your browser toolbar
  2. Enter your Cosmonauth API key
  3. Click “Connect” to establish the connection
  4. You’ll see a green status indicator when connected

Important: Keep the extension popup open while using browser automation. The connection will be lost if you close the extension popup, and your AI assistant won’t be able to interact with web pages.

2. Verify Connection

Test the connection by asking your AI assistant:

Important Limitations

  • Extension must remain open: The extension popup must stay open for AI assistants to interact with web pages
  • Single window support: The extension can only work with one browser window at a time
  • Active tab only: AI interactions are limited to the currently active tab

Troubleshooting

Extension Not Connecting

  1. Check your API key: Ensure you’re using the correct API key from Cosmonauth
  2. Keep extension open: Make sure the extension popup remains open during use
  3. Refresh the page: Try refreshing both the extension popup and your Cosmonauth dashboard
  4. Check network: Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  5. Restart browser: Close and reopen your browser, then try reconnecting

AI Can’t See Webpage Content

  1. Verify extension is open: Ensure the extension popup is open and showing a green connection status
  2. Check active window: Make sure you’re working in the same browser window where the extension is connected
  3. Verify connection: Ask your AI to check the browser extension health
  4. Try a different page: Test with a simple webpage to isolate the issue
